Courtney brown was taught remote
viewing by Ed Dames. He then developed his own RV methodology based
on this teaching called 'SRV' Scientific remote Viewing.
Courtney Brown, Ph.D., founded The
Farsight Institute in 1995. When the Institute began teaching Scientific
Remote Viewing in March of 1996, Dr. Brown was the only course facilitator.
Later, as new facilitators and advanced remote viewers finished
their training, Dr. Brown spent more time assisting in the research
and development of new remote viewing protocols while continuing
his administrative responsibilities of farsight.
Courtney Brown has written five
books, two of which are on the subject of remote viewing. His book,
Cosmic Voyage: A Scientific Discovery of Extraterrestrials Visiting
Earth, describes his first investigation using remote viewing as
a data gathering technique. His second book on the subject of remote
viewing, Cosmic Explorers: Scientific Remote Viewing, Extraterrestrials,
and a Message for Mankind (Dutton), continues much of the substantive
content of Cosmic Voyage, but it also contains an entire text explaining
the mechanics of Scientific Remote Viewing.
Infamous for the Hale-Bopp RV sessions,
which detailed aliens within/ following the Hale Bopp Comet etc,
etc.

may have based suicide on Brown's UFO theories
"A statement from the University
reinforced its dissociation from Brown's theories on UFOs and
remote viewing. "Courtney Brown's comments about the Hale-Bopp
comet are evidently based on his work at the Farsight Institute,
which has no relationship with an d receives no support from Emory
University. He has assured us that he has kept his activities
at the Institute completely separate from his teaching at Emory."
¶ The University's statement also placed Emory in direct opposition
to Brown's work with Farsight, saying, "The University completely
disagrees with the content of Courtney Brown's non-Emory activities."
¶ University President William M. Chace, however, said he did
not believe Brown bears any responsibility for the California
suicides."

Article critical of Brown's Remote Viewing techniques, by a former

"Several months ago, I restructured
the Farsight® web site, and placed a prominent disclaimer at the
top of each of the session pages, stating that the sessions were
not done under proper controls, and that the data therein was
suspect.... I was told by Dr. Brown to replace that disclaimer
with one that merely stated that we were retargeting things using
more refined methods, but that we had not viewed anything contradictory
to what we had presented. I felt, from a scientific standpoint,
given the types of controls and checks that are standard procedure
in both experimental and observational sciences, that this was
misleading the public. I stated so, but as an employee, I had
to follow the order.
